The two look so alike that even experienced buyers confuse them. Both have flared sides. The difference is in how that flare is built. A kurung pesak gantung joins two pieces of fabric on each side, while a kurung Pahang uses one wide piece. The single panel gives a smoother line from underarm to hem, with no seam breaking the flare.

Tradisional or Moden?

A kurung Pahang tradisional keeps the cekak musang collar and buttons and was often made from woven fabric with embroidery. It's the version for adat ceremonies and formal portraits.
